I remember that there was a discussion here before about how to use winnt to access FAT32. For NT 4.0, it's very simple, and Sysinternals has a FAT32 driver for NT4. As for NT 3.51, there was no follow-up.

Today, I was bored and found a FAT32 driver for NT 3.51 online, and I'm sharing it here for everyone (it also contains a FAT32 driver for NT 4).

It was modified by a master from the original FAT driver fastfat.sys of NT itself.

I used to find a modified FASTFAT.SYS online, which was said to make WnNT 3.51 support FAT32, but after testing, it didn't work at all. I don't know if this one is the same as that one (the file directories look very similar). Have you tried it?

Tried it under the Chinese version of WinNT 3.51 SP5, but it didn't work.

But the effect of surfing the Internet with Firefox 1.5x under the Chinese version of WinNT 3.51 is quite good, and there is no problem in viewing Chinese characters, including this forum.

Firefox 1.5x can run, I have tried it and it is definitely okay (including Chinese and English versions). See the picture:

It seems that versions 0.6, 1.0, and 1.04 cannot run. But version 1.5 can run.

Why did the topic switch to Firefox?

To access FAT32 in NT 3.51, some other tools can be used, but it's impossible to mount it as a drive letter. For example, earlier versions of WinImage (newer versions don't run in NT 3.51) can access FAT32 partitions.

Hehe, it's the webmaster on the 4th floor who got off track first! ; )

Back to the topic, I tried again today and found that after loading a newer FAT driver under NT 3.51, it is really possible to access the FAT32 partition. However, the premise is that the corresponding drive definition needs to be added in the registry, for example:

In this way, the F drive can be used to access this FAT32 partition, and both Chinese and English long file names are supported.

The webmaster is strong, still researching this now. The previous driver on the top floor was deleted by me a while ago to make space to upload other attachments.

By the way, in the current Vista SP1/2008, a new FAT format called exFAT has been introduced, which supports single files larger than 4GB.

I tried it, and the driver for this file system, exfat.sys, can also be used under XP/2003.

Actually, I didn't really "research" this. It's just that I happened to see relevant information online, tried it, and it succeeded as expected (so that the entire hard disk can be seen under NT 3.51).

It's quite impressive that you're still using NT 3.51 now

Windows NT 3.51 is really a good system, but it's too outdated now.
