I am running a small internet café. Last month, I went to play in Dongguan and accidentally entered an internet café to visit. I found that there were several antique computers in the internet café specially for playing arcade simulation games, running under DOS. The front-end program for the games was quite good. Only gamepads were used, and no keyboards were even plugged in. Games were selected using the gamepad, and during the game, you could hold the start button on the gamepad for a few seconds to return to the game selection menu. I have been playing MAME for a long time, from DOS to Windows, and I have used many front-ends, but I have never seen such a simple, clear, and easy-to-use MAME front-end (the attached is a self-drawn picture of the menu screen from memory). I remember that when playing MAME under DOS, you had to type a command for each game, for example, mame game name parameters and then press Enter. Seeing that this MAME front-end was made so well, I thought my old machines in the internet café could also use it, so I asked the internet café manager. The manager said he wrote it himself. Oh my god! The manager is asking for 1000 yuan, but he can sell me the source code together for 1200 yuan. He said that to add games, you need the source code, add it, and then compile it. After getting his phone number, I left. Really XXXXX, is it worth that much??? Everyone help me evaluate the price, is it worth it, and I need to consider whether to get this software.

The format of typing commands to run MAME games under DOS means that running a game in the game menu is just equivalent to executing a command. Is making this software complicated? Is 1200 worth it? How much can I bargain? I learned some DOS programming before but have mostly forgotten it, so I came here to ask all the programming experts. Thanks!

Like a game-specific graphical shell, it doesn't seem very complicated. I don't know how its game preview screen comes about, maybe it's captured images or directly read from the ROM? I'm not familiar with MAME, heh.

Playing DOS games with MAME is just about typing commands. For example, to play KOF97, you type "mame kof97" and for KOF98, you type "mame kof98". It's that simple. It's just that someone made a graphical interface to execute these commands.

Aren't there a lot of such "Front-End" in foreign countries? It shouldn't need to be written by oneself, it's quite time-consuming and brain-intensive.

Hehe... I really liked playing many games in MAME when I was a kid!

There are many front-ends in foreign countries but they aren't as easy to use and are in English. This one is simple and clear! I'm not afraid of the trouble when adding games, just need it to be easy to use! I'm familiar with DOS systems, and I've learned C language but almost forgot it. I'll come here to learn from everyone when I have time!

Some old machines in internet cafes are a pity to throw away! It's not bad to use them to play this specifically! I also want to make my own control sticks like in game arcades to play as a game console!

Whoever has the same interest, contact me! QQ 14531882 (seldom on QQ) E-mail:cmbin@126.com

Some things, maybe you haven't seen them, but maybe someone downloaded them from somewhere to deceive you.
