Dear experts, I have a MS-DOS 7.10 super boot disk, and I have stored the upgrade file in drive C. After entering the DOS environment, how to find the BIOS upgrade file on drive C?
May I ask experts: How to find the BIOS upgrade file on drive C in the DOS environment to perform BIOS flashing. Can you tell me the detailed process? I would be very grateful! Thank you in advance! |

It is best not to refresh. If you must refresh, please have an expert guide.

Is the BIOS upgrade file already on your hard drive?

If you really want to flash, go ahead. If there's a problem, don't come to me ^_^
First, you need to know the name of your BIOS (it must match the motherboard). Then, enter the name of the BIOS flashing program, and you can don't add any parameters. Then a graphical interface will appear. When it asks you to enter the name of the BIOS, you just enter the name of the BIOS in c:\ (c:\ tells the program to find your BIOS file on the C drive). Then the program will ask if you want to save the BIOS. It is recommended to save it, such as a:\old.bin (that is, save it in the floppy drive). Then just flash it, and pray that there will be no power outages and no problems. At this time, there will be a white line moving forward all the time. You'd better not move the computer. Finally, the flashing program will tell you to press F1 to restart, which is flashing text (before this, you must not restart). After restarting, it will be successful. One reminder: Flashing the BIOS is very dangerous. The owner seems not very familiar with DOS. I don't know how about English? If English is not good, just hold a dictionary. Be sure to understand the meaning on the screen before flashing, otherwise the consequences will be serious oh. |

Q: The BIOS flash failed. How should I handle it?
A: Actually, flashing the motherboard BIOS is very dangerous. The common repair methods are generally as follows: 1. An Award BIOS has a Boot Block program固化 in it, which is generally not refreshed by the flash software. Therefore, even if the BIOS flash fails, the Boot Block can still control the ISA graphics card and the floppy drive. But now most motherboards do not support ISA, so still use the floppy drive! First, make a system disk, delete Config.sys and Autoexec.bat in it, and then copy the correct BIOS update program and data file to the system disk. Then, create Autoexec.bat in the system disk and add: Awdflash xxx.bin /f /sn /py /r (xxx.bin is the BIOS data file). The parameters /f /sn /py /r mean to update the BIOS automatically and restart without backing up. When the flash fails, insert this disk and restart, the system will automatically update the BIOS. Wait for a few minutes and then restart, generally the BIOS can be restored. 2. If the damage is relatively serious and even the Boot Block boot block is damaged together, you can try to repair it by "hot plugging". After the BIOS completes the POST power-on self-test and the system starts the bootstrap program, the operating system takes over the control of the system. After the boot process is completed, the BIOS has completed its mission, and then it basically does not work. First, release the static electricity on your body, find a motherboard of the same model as the bad motherboard (hereinafter referred to as "good motherboard"), respectively pull out the BIOS chips of the two motherboards, then insert the BIOS chip of the good motherboard back into the BIOS socket, pay attention not to insert it too tightly, as long as the pins can just touch the socket. Start the computer, enter the pure DOS state, pull out the good BIOS chip, and then insert the bad BIOS chip into the motherboard, and perform BIOS flashing, the problem can be solved. |

I see you'd better forget it.
If you really need to refresh the hotdog, it is suggested that you: 1. Make a bootable floppy disk and have the original BIOS file of the mainboard and the refresh program as backups. 2. Never refresh the boot block of the BIOS when refreshing. 3. If the refresh fails, insert the backup floppy disk and then flash the original BIOS (as long as the boot block is not refreshed during the upgrade, the boot block can still be used to boot the mainboard to the floppy drive even if the BIOS refresh fails). 4. Remind again, do not attempt to refresh the boot block of the BIOS unless you are absolutely sure!!! |

Now most motherboards support flashing the BIOS under Windows, so there's no need to flash it with a floppy drive under DOS anymore.
