Help! I have a problem with the Creative SB 16 Pro CT-2910 full-length card. This sound card is not a PnP type, integrates two IDE slots, and has a DASP chip built-in. This card can make sound in any game under pure DOS. There are driver programs for it under Win 3.2, and the sound quality is very good under Win 3.2. But it cannot be automatically recognized under Win98/Xp. After I manually install the system's own SB 16 driver, it can make sound, but it doesn't work after a restart, and it prompts that there is insufficient system resource allocation.

There are more than 20 jumpers on the card. It seems that we need to manually set things like IRQ, DMA, etc. I'm really confused. Actually, its sound quality is still pretty good. The card is quite large. Can anyone help me set the jumpers on the sound card?

Try adjusting the resource allocation in the BIOS.

You can still find ISA slots in machines that can run Vista?!

I don't have it, but it's not that a machine with an ISA slot can't use Vista

Hehe, it can be used, but I don't think anyone would use it like that. Just like when Windows 95 first came out, it was claimed that it could be used with 4M memory.

Now there is a PCI to ISA bridge card, but it is extremely hard to buy and not very stable.

Just bought an awe64 Gold, the sound quality is very good, especially her MIDI playback effect, extremely delicate..........
But the awe64 Gold has poor DOS game compatibility............
I'm using a K6-2 500M, 224M memory machine, MVP3 motherboard has 3 ISA slots, I wonder if two ISA sound cards can coexist?
Will there be resource conflicts when installing two ISA sound cards at the same time?

Otherwise, disable SB16 under Win98, but there is still an address conflict in the system operation.................. Some games cannot play sound with AWE64 Gold in pure DOS environment, while Creative SB 16 Pro has excellent game compatibility....................................................

The compatibility of awe64 Gold is extremely good, and there shouldn't be such a situation. Could it be a driver issue?

The PCM function of AWE64 Gold should be 100% compatible with SB16. However, its MPU401 function needs to be virtualized with AWEUTIL. Therefore, some protected - mode DOS programs may have problems playing MIDI in GM mode, but it should be okay if playing with FM.
