I just tried the Chinese version of grub 0.97 in the grub_for_dos-0.4.2pre5.zip package, and it starts several times slower than the Chinese version of grub 0.97 in the grub_for_dos-0.4.2pre4.zip package. I don't know why.
You'd better download the grub_for_dos-0.4.2pre4.zip package. I didn't test the English one.....

Let's see, which one has the problem, GRUB.EXE or GRLDR? Also, try to guess where the problem might be and locate the possible BUG. At which stage of the boot process does the problem occur? For example, before or after preset_menu takes control? How many menu.lst files are there? Is it placed together with the GRLDR file? If GRUB.EXE is used, is it used in CONFIG.SYS, or in the command line and batch processing? The command line parameters also affect the startup speed of GRUB.EXE, because there are parameters like --timeout.

Problems with GRLDR. Before preset_menu takes control, it's not too slow, but after preset_menu takes control, it becomes much slower!

In my 5.76M IMG, there is a RAR self-extracting file. With the current GRLDR, I have never fully entered DOS and got stuck at the decompression file stage and couldn't get in.

My situation is the same as above. The preset_menu is a bit slower than before. It's extremely slow after preset_menu.

My 24MB one can load and start, and the loading time is not slow. It's just slow after entering DOS, as if some memory is not released.
