I want to install WIN2003 from the hard disk. I tried using smartdrv /v, but the system prompts: Warning:Unable to use a disk cache on the specified drive. SMARTDrive cannot be loaded because the XMS driver,HIMEM.SYS is not loaded. Check the CONFIG.SYS file for a device=himem.sys command line. How should I solve this? My computer has no floppy drive.

Just load himem.sys in config.sys.
device=path\himem.sys.
path is the path name where himem.sys is located.
device=path\himem.sys.

Although many years have passed, I still want to post. I use the USB flash drive to boot to DOS and always get an error when loading smartdrv. It's the same as the landlord's. smartdrv.exe, himem.sys, emm386.exe are all placed in the root directory of the USB flash drive. config.sys:
device=himem.sys
device=emm386.exe ram
dos=high,umb auto
For this reason, I installed 98 on the hard disk under DOS but didn't succeed. It prompted a string of English... config.sys is helpless!
But there is a command prompt when pressing F8, so I went in. The smartdrv.exe is still reserved on the hard disk. Running... it actually succeeded. Could it be related to the DOS system? I can't figure it out.
