I’ve seen some hard-disk versions of tool disks, and they all require installing under WIN X first, then selecting them from the boot options. I want it to appear by itself, that is, when the machine starts up it only shows these tool disks. I don’t know how to do that, thanks for the advice?

These are generally floppy disk images booted with grub. You can search for how to use grub, or take a look here http://sysoft.zdwx.com/forum/index.php. But if only the tool disk options appear, then how would you get into Windows again?

I mean using the hard disk as a maintenance disk.

Just install a grub4dos MBR on the hard disk. For the rest, look up how to use grub4dos.
