IBM OS/2 Warp 4 Simplified Chinese CD version cannot boot from the CD. I have been searching the Internet for a long time and haven't found the installation method. I accidentally found that it can be installed like this:
1. First, install the MSDOS 6.22 system and the optical drive on a computer. Enter the drive letter where the optical drive is located under DOS, and execute a certain command in the CD directory, which is a batch file starting with CD or MAK, etc., it's all okay (sorry! Now the CD is at home, I can only recall roughly), insert three blank floppy disks, and make #1, #2, and SETUP installation floppy disks respectively. Before executing the batch command in the CD directory, it is best to execute a Chinese font library such as TWAY32.EXE, otherwise garbled characters will appear!
2. Format a hard drive to install OS/2 as FAT16. The partition is 2GB, and the memory is 16MB. If you don't partition now, later installation can only choose "Advanced Installation" and not "Easy Installation".
3. Insert the SETUP installation floppy disk, start the computer, then insert the #1 floppy disk, press Enter, insert the #2 floppy disk, and finally insert the IBM OS/2 Warp 4 Simplified Chinese CD, insert the SETUP installation floppy disk again, restart, and then follow the Chinese prompts, it should be very easy!
The production of the above three installation floppy disks (using a 1.44MB IMG floppy disk image on the virtual machine) was completed on the VMWARE virtual machine, and the OS/2 system was completed on the Visal PC2004 virtual machine! The installation method of the OS/2 Warp P3 CD version is the same as above, but only two floppy disks are needed! Wish friends successful installation! The above is my recollection, there may be some places that are not right, if there are any problems, you can send them to me
