Excuse me, Wengier and all the experts. My computer is an IBM T43 with a 40G NTFS formatted hard disk. To partition the hard disk using Fdisk without damaging the one-key recovery, I need to make a CD-ROM version of a DOS bootable disk, and the Fdisk program required for partitioning as per IBM needs to be after May 19, 2000. I saw that the DOS Union provides many versions of DOS installation disks. Please answer:

1. Which MS-DOS version should I choose?
2. How can I make it into a CD-ROM bootable one? Is it just burning it into the CD-ROM directly? (No floppy disks, have a combo drive and Nero software).
3. If I buy a pirated system installation software with DOS boot, can I be sure that its Fdisk is after May 19, 2000?

Many thanks!

The MSDOS 7.1 bootable disk by Wengier is sufficient. It comes with a newer version of FDisk.

To burn it, import the bootable disk image into the CD boot sector to make a bootable CD. (For burning steps, you can refer here: http://www.cn-dos.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=14793)

Now most D-version system installation CDs with DOS boot have relatively new versions of FDisk. And such CDs may have more than just FDisk partition tools, but also PQMagic, DiskGenius, DM, etc.

According to my understanding, IBM required that the fdisk附带 with Windows Me fixed the bug of not supporting large hard drives, while the fdisk of Windows 98 SE had problems.

Thanks to Jonepeng and llm, I basically know how to make it, and I will try it later. Also, I put a previous XP system on the hard drive. Can I directly pull it over and make a system disk by myself with the boot disk?

Regarding the version requirements of IBM, my understanding is also that the Fdisk of WinME is used to correct the bug of large hard drives, but my disk is 40G, no matter what, it should be fine!

XP cannot be normally booted even if it is burned to the CD exactly as it is, but WinPE can be booted from the CD

Oh, I see. Just now, the bootable disk and XP were burned together and it failed, and I can't even enter DOS. Damn it! I'll go buy 10 blank disks this weekend and try again!

I suggest that before burning, use UltraISO to make a CD image, and then use a virtual machine to test whether this ISO can boot and whether the content is complete. After the test is successful, finally burn the ISO image to the CD, so that you won't burn defective discs, and save a lot of trouble and money.

Mine is a T42. Under DOS, I used gdisk to divide the space outside the hidden partition into two partitions, then installed the budget version of XP SP2, which worked completely normally. As for the original software, every time the system is restored, there is a backup under the C drive. I copy it to the mobile hard drive. After installing XP SP2, I can find all of them on the mobile hard drive. Since I already have them, I used software to delete the hidden partition.
