DOS mainly has three ways to start network functions:
1. Directly execute runnet in DOS, which can (hybrid) use 3 protocols of MS or IMB TCP/IP protocol, support multiple identical or different network cards, and have netbios support.
2. Select IBM TCP/IP (item 2) in the Config menu, which can give priority to using IBM TCP/IP protocol.
3. Directly execute netd in DOS. If adding parameter /d is to download the automatic script command and execute it. It only provides Packet driver, occupies about 18K conventional memory, and supports Nvidia network cards. This method is suitable for testing, such as quickly upgrading bios for all computers in the local area network, synchronizing coms settings, synchronizing time, and can also be used for network cloning.

The network core startup file is Runnet.bat, which can be modified according to the actual situation.

This EMM386.EXE comes from the Wengier Super DOS 7.01 boot disk, and the network copy netcopy also doesn't work. The prompt content is a distribution error. This is not a problem with the version of EMM386.EXE. UMBPCI is relatively well-compatible with low-end configurations such as 586.

That Parallels Workstation 2.0 doesn't seem as stable as VM and VPC. After I boot DOS on it and then load the Chinese character system, only CCDOS97 can work, and others like TW, XZL all crash.

Parallels Workstation 2.1 comes with an 8029 network card. After installing XP, the speed is shown as 100M. The PXE boot floppy disk with 8029 can't boot it either. It is much faster than vm and vpc, has the lowest system requirements, and has the most functions. The most convenient to operate is vpc. **Application 1:**
Flash the motherboard BIOS, and this machine has no floppy drive. Since the original BIOS file needs to be backed up during flashing, but the hard disk is in NTFS format or there is no partition to store the backup BIOS. **Application 2:**
Install the Win 2003/xp system on a SCSI/SATA hard disk. Boots faster than before, about 2 seconds to reach DOS. The function of pxelinux is also very powerful, especially the menu customization function. Maybe stronger than pxegrub, haven't tried pxegrub yet. Floppy disk images can be arbitrarily resized with winimage. When it's not the standard size, one should change c/h/s and add floppy.
append initrd=pxeboot.img keeppxe, where keeppxe is arbitrary and cannot be missing. Otherwise, the undi is not in memory. After adding this parameter, conventional memory is reduced by 90K. For general floppy disk images, there won't be this problem. Thus, for network sharing to install winnt system, it may not be able to execute winnt.exe. After booting, executing edit *.ini, that is, opening all.ini files in the current directory, some files cannot be opened. Executing some exe files prompts that A drive cannot be set (prompt to choose A, R, F?). Can't find the reason for this problem. Maybe the c/h/s parameter setting of pxelinux is incorrect. Here, I ask everyone, is it the problem of pxelinux or the problem of memdisk c/h/s parameter? It's just like there are bad sectors on A drive, but this A drive is after memdisk is loaded.

Boot failed with pxe + syslinux + memdisk. Will try PXE-pxegrub-memdisk in the future. The advantage of syslinux is that it can PXE boot and then remotely install linux.

Currently, have to temporarily use emboot to make img files.
