Here everyone is talking a lot about DOS, and I want to express my personal views.
Everyone has said a lot about the current situation of operating systems, so I won't say too much. Below I just use an example to express my point of view: (as explained in Computer News)
1. Give contributors higher contributions.
2. Get better and more attractive contributions.
3. Make more readers read the newspaper.
4. Increase the circulation.
5. More merchants advertise in the newspaper.
6. Get more advertising fees.
7. Enter a virtuous cycle from (1).
The above virtuous cycle has made Computer News develop to this day.
Everyone understands this process, but it shows another problem, that is, any thing wants to develop and grow must enter the market.
Just as DOS was bought by Microsoft from others, but why did DOS develop and grow only in Microsoft's hands.
Because of market support. Microsoft earns money from DOS in the market, then uses this money to develop DOS, then goes to the market to make money, and then... With this virtuous cycle, Microsoft and his software can develop to this day.
Just talking about the development of DOS here, without that virtuous cycle, DOS can't develop!
