When restarting under 98 and returning to DOS, it writes the current memory information to the hard disk, and DOS memory still has resident parts of Win and other programs.
Is there a way to make 98 switch to DOS like Win3.x did, without any resident Win information left behind??? |

Yes, but don't choose the "Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode" option. Just choose the "Shut down the computer" option. If there is a shutdown LOGO screen, forcibly type MODE CO80 and press Enter, then you can return to pure DOS; if it is an ATX power supply, run the NOOFF program once before starting WIN and it won't shut down automatically.

How do I type MODE CO80?? My 98 shuts down too fast, sometimes it shuts off before I can even see the logo
I tried running nooff, but it didn't work. It still shuts down anyway |

NOOFF can only be run an odd number of times, not an even number of times, otherwise it will exit automatically, and it must be run before WIN.COM.
