Today I downloaded the ISO file for FreeDOS 7.1.
I tried to install it with a virtual machine:
First I created a virtual MSdos machine, and chose the virtual CD-ROM drive to install FreeDOS.
power on........
next......
next......

Until it prompted me to do a disk partition check, and strongly suggested that I not skip this step

I chose continue.....

It said it can't be installed on a non-FAT partition, or that my machine has no partition at all. how to solve it!
Just to clarify: my system is XP, and drive C is fat32!

If anyone knows, please tell me, I'd be extremely grateful! Thanks a lot!

I don't know what version of VM you're using. I'm using 5.0 B13124.
When creating a virtual machine in VM, it's just like installing an OS. Try selecting the option “allocate all disk space now.” After creating the space, just boot from any CD and format it as FAT.

The problem above may be because you didn't select “create disk space now.”
Also, the virtual hard disk format when VM creates a virtual machine has nothing to do with your physical disk.

Has anyone successfully installed Freedos under VM?
Please share your experience.
It just won't install successfully.
So depressing.

I remember I also once ran into a problem when the installation reached 70% or 80%, but I don't remember what the prompt said. Later I just ignored things all the way through and it finished installing. Mine is BETA 9.
