I am a via ac97 sound card. After installing the driver, when using qv or dss to play mp3 files, the display is normal, such as the progress, the copyright information of the mp3, etc., but there is no sound. Why? I am a newbie

Is the speaker turned on? Has the volume been adjusted? Is the BLASTER variable set correctly?

Is the BLASTER variable set correctly
~~~~~~~~~~~~~?? I'm a newbie, explain where to set it? Thanks. p.s. Does it have anything to do with the DOS version? My machine is like this. Originally it was 2000, then after using the boot disk sys c:, 2000 was repaired, resulting in the current dual-boot appearance. After entering ver, it's Windows 98 4.002 or something. Although I don't have DOS at all now. |
Okay, for the specific settings of BLASTER, please refer to the "DOS Usage" section of the website.
Now there are only two lines in autoexec.bat:
C:\VIAUDIO\VIAUDIO.COM SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 P330 Is that okay? Thanks |
As long as it matches the actual settings.
That's the case. I also read some articles on the website. Now there's no sound when playing, and I'm very curious why the progress bar is moving but there's no sound. Are there any other places to check? (Like BIOS?)
Then let's do it this way. First, remove the BLASTER variable, and then try using the CDP program to see if there's sound (if the driver is already installed, CDP will automatically detect the sound card and won't need the BLASTER variable).
After I removed the variable from autoexec.bat, when playing CD with cdp, during the playing state, I can only hear the sound from the CD-ROM port, and there is no sound from the sound card. The driver I used is the one from the website, which is the via ac97 program (there is an identical driver in the motherboard CD driver, so I think the driver should be no problem). What should I do? Is there any requirement for the DOS version?
Then, when playing MP3, MIDI and other files with CDP, is there no sound?
??cdp is not specifically for storing CDs, is it? After running cdp, it's just a playback interface controlled with the numeric keypad, and it seems only for playing CDs. Are there other versions of cdp? Mine is about 17k.
It's not this CDP. It's the CDP 1.1 on the website, which is over 200KB in size and can play multiple formats of music such as MP3, MIDI, CD, etc.
Thanks to the boss for his tireless explanation. I downloaded that 200k cdp. After running it, the sound card is also recognized, and the displayed parameters are the same as before. It also shows a playing appearance, but there is no sound. I have indeed connected the audio and video properly. At least when I enter 2000, the sound is fine, which shows that the plug is definitely connected properly.
Is it necessary to do something with DOS before installing the sound card driver?
