I used winimg to make DOS 7.1 into an ima file. When using NERO to burn the disc, I selected: "Burn a bootable data DVD disc". After adding the files to be burned, in the next step, I tried to burn this ima image to the boot sector. However, this disc could not boot into DOS. I also made an image of the traditional 98 DOS, and it was the same. I also tried making the boot disk of GHOST 8.0 into an ima image and burning it into the boot sector, but it still didn't work. The files on my disc are just the GHOST image, and I just hope to be able to boot into DOS from the disc and use GHOST.

But if I make the "MS-DOS 7.10 Super Boot Disk" into an ima image, the system will read from the disc. Then for its options, I can only choose the first way: boot in EMM386 mode to start DOS; the other three ways all result in the computer having no response in the end. (This MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk will have four options when starting. The first one is to boot in EMM386 mode, the second one is to boot in UMBPCI mode, and the third and fourth ones respectively add support for NTFS/SCSI and USB drives on this basis.) Strange! Confusing!

My hard disk has H drive as FAT32 as the backup partition for GHOST, and the others from C to G are all NTFS format.

Hope an expert can give some guidance! (I've already wasted N DVD burning discs)

I suggest that before burning, it is best to make all the files to be burned into an ISO image file, and then use a virtual machine to test whether this image can be successfully booted, so as not to waste so many DVD discs: create a simple virtual MSDOS in the virtual machine, set the CD drive to use that ISO image as the virtual CD drive, and finally set the CD drive to boot under the virtual MSDOS, so that you can see whether this image can really boot DOS. If it works, you can rest assured to burn it. If not, find the reason and modify it.

I just found out about virtual machines. I don't know if it's complicated or not?

But I still really want to know why some DOS images can boot from a DVD光盘, but some can't?

I have tested three DVDs. The DVD boot disks made by loading grubdisk.img or Ghost.IMA can boot, but the content inside is the one that the img itself brings. Even if I first load with ultraiso and then add winxp.gho to burn, it can boot Ghost but cannot find the file I added. It's still in the experiment.

First, use UltraISO to load the img to make a bootable CD, which can definitely boot from the DVD! But just can't find the ghost file, but can start the ghost program

Burning a disc using Nero7 software, selecting the "DVD-ROM Boot" option and burning with its default image file, after booting to DOS in the XP system, GHOST cannot be run, and an error prompt appears: ABORT:8027, A GeneralException occurred. The reason is that the image自带by Nero is for dr-dos and cannot run GHOST. GHOST can only run under pc-dos or ms-dos. Universal GHOST DVD boot disc production method: Use grubdisk.img extracted from Super Boot Disk GrubDisk 20060308 (or other 98.img, ghost.img) as the boot image file of Nero7. Then some practical tools such as GHOST, PQ, DM, etc. can be added to the burned disc. The default prompt after booting the DVD disc is A: Switch to the optical drive drive letter to use these software normally. A 4.7GB DVD can burn 2 universal GHOST files. The test process is normal, the average speed is 200M/min, and the time consumption is 11:58, which is acceptable.

1. DVD burning and reading must use the Windows 2000 or higher operating system to boot. The most important reason is the problem with the DVD UDF format. MS-DOS and Windows 9x systems do not support it.

2. Currently, the [Bart's PE Builder CD Boot Startup ISO English Version] uses the WinXP SP2 + Ghost8.3 core, which should be worth trying!

This has been tested successfully in the company, but because the speed is only 200M. For computers with a large number, we still use network ghost. This is only recommended for home or personal single-machine use. The method I said will definitely succeed when installed.
