After booting with EasyBoot, has DOS already been started? Can you freely run some DOS software?

After booting with EasyBoot, only after you run the IMG file has DOS actually been started!

EasyBoot has a function called "generate a new floppy disk image"—what is it for?
The seed image file has to be an *img-type image, and the output is also an *img-type image, so what's special about that? |

I have read its help file, but it only explains how to make this kind of *.img floppy disk image. It doesn't explain why the seed image file has to be an *img-type image and the output is also an *img-type image, or what's special about that.
