To All:
After logging in to the forum today, I found that the forum has made many detailed adjustments. The following are the discoveries:
1. In the non-logged-in interface, a prompt "Please register or log in to use various functions of the forum" has been added, including:
Top center of the forum homepage:
Please note: You are currently not registered or logged in. Please register or log in to use various functions of the forum.
Top center of the sub-forum and bottom of the topic browsing page:
Please note: You are currently not registered or logged in. Please register or log in to use various functions of the forum, such as posting and replying to posts.
2. The email verification function has been added to the forum registration page, which can verify validity and uniqueness; later, due to some problems with validity verification, it was withdrawn, and the uniqueness verification is still retained, that is, one email can only apply for one forum account;
3. The "online list" of forum users has been added to the sub-forum page of the forum, and the list of "guests" has been added to the "online list" on the forum homepage;
4. Restrict non-registered or non-logged-in users from directly browsing the administrative area;
5. Some minor modifications to the login page, such as setting the default login save time to 1 year, etc.;
6. The reward points for creating new topics in the forum have been adjusted to 6 points, and the reward points for posting replies have been adjusted to 2 points;
Please confirm and supplement the above adjustments by administrators and all users. According to the "Proposal on Publicizing Moderation Affairs", it is also suggested that the administrator post the content of this adjustment on the forum announcement.

Proposal on Adding Restrictions to User Registration

Content: By November 2nd, there are already 44,465 members in this forum, which can be said to have reached a large scale and needs to be managed in a constrained manner. Therefore, it is suggested that the administrator increase registration restrictions, such as the most common email verification, which is also convenient for user management. What do you think?

Content: Regarding the issue of increasing registration restrictions, Dark-Destroy and I just discussed it. Your suggestion itself is good, but I am worried about one thing. I found that there are quite a lot of online users in the forum recently, but among them, it often seems that most are guests, and the number of registered/logged-in users is relatively small compared to guests. I don't know whether these people are not registered or just not logged in. Therefore, I am worried that if registration restrictions are increased, more people may not register and become guests. What do you think? If you have any good ideas, you can also put them forward.

Content: Regarding the phenomenon that the number of unlogged-in people is greater than the number of logged-in users, this actually exists in most forums that do not restrict browsing and has little to do with whether registration is restricted. The biggest reason for not logging in is not registering, and the reason for not registering is because there is no need to post. If you want to reduce this part of the number of people, the most effective method is to restrict the browsing rights of unlogged-in users, not the simple registration method. And the current registration form actually indulges and gives birth to phenomena such as multiple accounts per person, arbitrary accounts, and advertisements and spam posts.

Content: I just tried to restrict the browsing rights of each section in the administrative area for unlogged-in users and prohibited direct browsing. For user registration, the email activation function has been turned on, and multiple accounts per person are not allowed.

Content: I don't know what the reason is. Now I find that the email verification function of the forum seems to have some bugs, resulting in sometimes verification failure and the problem that "Newcomer's Guide" becomes a VIP (for details, please see the latest discussion in the forum administrative area). Therefore, it seems that the email verification function cannot be enabled for the time being to avoid these problems. However, the verification that the same email address can only register one mailbox can continue to be used, which should not cause problems.
