After all, the operating system most people use is now the Windows series, and there are quite a few using XP and 2000 too. When dealing with DOS, sometimes you run into all kinds of problems, and may even damage the partitions on the whole hard disk, which is quite inconvenient for beginners. So I strongly recommend the software VMware. It emulates a completely real DOS system, letting people handle DOS tools with confidence. As for exactly how to install and use this software, that depends on everyone's response, haha. If I have time, I’ll put up another long article!

What does so-so mean? Slow speed? I’ve installed DOS with it on several of my computers, and it’s really convenient for debugging. It’s just that its memory requirements are a bit high, but luckily all my computers have 256M or more memory now

It’s worth recommending on high-end machines. If it’s a low-end machine, it’s better to install multi-system boot management software.

There’s another similar piece of software, virtual Pc. Actually they’re all about the same, but it’s said this one is faster than vwmare and has lower system requirements too.
I have used Vwmare, and it feels pretty good. If you run DOS inside it, it’s quite fast, but if you run systems above win98, the requirements for memory, CPU, etc. are probably higher. Since my motherboard is one with an integrated C3 CPU, perhaps because of the CPU, I’ve never been able to install win98. And that Virtual PC can’t even run at all.
When I was making my “Free Space Software Mega Collection” disc, I often used vwmare, debugging various boot disks inside it, running different versions of DOS and trying all kinds of DOS software inside it, and also checking whether my boot CD could boot.
Vwmare is fairly simple to use. It helped me quite a bit. And I think with so much DOS software, if you want to try it, it’s best to try it in vwmare, and it won’t mess up one of your drives. Also, some dangerous software is best used in vwmare, such as various partitioning software, high-level/low-level format software, disk sector editing software, and other kinds of software that directly operate on disks. You can use them boldly without worry!
The drawback is that the DOS environment it emulates is not necessarily very pure. For example, when I used umpci, I had this situation: logically umpci can be used directly, without adding parameters to specify the memory area, but in vwmare it absolutely insisted that I add parameters. If I didn’t add parameters, it thought there was a problem with this line in my config.sys.

Vwmare is under the isosoft\system directory. The filename is vwmare32.zip
virtual pc is under the mysoft\system directory. The filename is virtualpcv5.zip, with Chinese localization files included; for details see the instruction file inside after extracting. There is also a vpcw51update.exe, which is its update program, upgrading it to the latest version 5.1. But it is in English. Upgrade or not as you like.

From my usage, Virtual pc is better than Vmware. Vmware has too many BUGs and is slow, though when using DOS in Vmware you don’t really notice how slow it is; but using WINDOWS is much slower. The advantage of these two virtual machines is that they can have several operating systems installed at the same time, (that is, you can experience several operating systems at the same time; one system can virtualize several machines, and each machine can install the same or different operating systems. In some cases, you still need several operating systems to coexist.), and information can be shared among the machines at the same time. You can even paste between the machines, for example you can paste commands from another machine or the host machine onto this machine. It can use image disk and CD files as the hardware devices of each machine, (when you want to burn a CD you made, you can first use the CD image file in VMWARE or VPC to verify it, which can ensure your disc is burned correctly.), and at the same time it is also quite good as a system platform for programmers to debug software. But after all it still has its limitations and cannot compare with a real machine.

No way?! VMware has many Bugs? What I seem to have heard is that Vmware is far more stable than VP and much more powerful too. And in more than a year of using it myself, installing Win98 has not shown any major problems either. The speed is okay; it’s just that hardware support is a bit insufficient. I’ve used VP, but feel it can’t compare with VM, or maybe it’s because my computers all have fairly large memory. Actually there’s no need to debate the rights and wrongs of VP and VM. It’s enough that they are both important debugging tools when we play with DOS.

No need to crack it. Just use it directly... You can apply for a trial registration number from the homepage.
Of course, there are also keygens that can generate usable registration numbers...
The software on my FTP is basically all cracked, or registered, or has registration codes, or has keygens, or has cracking methods and registration methods. Of course, the Vwmare I provide also includes a keygen inside.

VPC’s virtualization effect is too poor. Even the MS-DOS 7.10 I made cannot boot under VPC, but it can boot under VMWare.
