There is a desktop at my company, so I took the hard drive out of my laptop and use it as a portable hard drive. This way I don't have to carry a separate hard drive; it's much lighter than carrying the laptop to work. Using the same hard drive at home and at the office also saves me the trouble of using synchronization software.
But the laptop doesn't support booting from USB devices. If I take the hard drive out of the USB enclosure and install it in the laptop, then after using it I have to remove it again and put it back in the enclosure. What a hassle! Is there any way to first boot DOS from a floppy drive, and then load Win2000 from the USB hard drive? |

To be perfectly clear, if the BIOS does not support USB booting, then it is impossible to boot from USB by any other method.

Generally speaking, it only depends on the BIOS; if the BIOS supports it, then it can boot.

If it's WIN98, then as long as there is more than 400K of conventional memory left, it can boot Win98 on the USB hard drive! If it's Win2000, then there may be no way!

Then flashing the BIOS is the only option.
