First post, not sure if it's in the right place. If it's wrong, please ask the moderator to move it to the appropriate place. Thanks!
After using VPC to virtually install the brand new DOS 7.1, when loading the shared folder program FSHARE.EXE, it prompts "folder sharing is not supported on this host", which roughly translates to: this program cannot be loaded on this machine, causing the virtual machine to not be able to share folders with the host. Please ask the expert to give some guidance, much appreciated! [ Last edited by willsort on 2005-10-31 at 14:26 ] |

This is a problem with Microsoft's VPC 2004 virtual machine, while the previous Connectix VPC 5.x would not have such problems. There are two solutions. The first is not to load EMM386, so that there will be no such problem when loading FSHARE; the second method is to use the tool specifically launched by Microsoft later to fix this problem of VPC 2004, that is, VMADD386.SYS. After loading this tool before EMM386, even when EMM386 is running, FSHARE can be used.

Thanks Wengier. Do you know where I can download the VMADD386.SYS file? I installed DOS to play games, and I can't play without loading EMM386.

What the hell is EMM386? I can't find this thing in VPC and DOS add-on modules. It's really annoying. It's so troublesome to share a folder in DOS.

I always make games into ISO files using UltraISO, then load the ISO file in a virtual machine, access the CD-ROM in DOS, and use xcopy to copy folders to the virtual machine.
