Copy the I386 folder to any folder other than the C drive. Then find a DOS image, copy the SMARTRV.exe file inside it. Boot into DOS and run SMARTRV.exe twice. Enter the I386 folder and type WINNT and press Enter.

I tried installing XP on the C drive, and it can be installed successfully. There is no need to run SMARTRV.EXE. (The installation file is on the D drive)

Hehe, sometimes running it once has no response, I don't know why. But after running it twice, there must be a response.

Haha, running it once is enough already!

When you run it the first time, SmartDrv is already loaded into memory and working, but it doesn't prompt any information. When you run it the second time, SmartDrv will automatically judge whether it has been loaded. If it has, it will display the detailed information of SmartDrv (including which drives use read/write buffers). So there's no need to run it twice at all. It's not that the more times you run it, the faster the disk read/write is.

But there's a benefit to running it twice, which is that you can check whether SmartDrv is really loaded and whether each drive has read buffers or write buffers.

If you want SmartDrv to display detailed information when run the first time, you can add the /V parameter.

What does "find a DOS image" mean?

Why do I get a prompt saying "The End User License Agreement" is not found when I install XP under DOS?

Then your XP installation disc is a version without a serial number. You can find another version that requires a serial number to install!

Maybe you didn't enter the correct installation directory.

The Winnt.exe of the XP installation disc is generally located in the i386 directory. If your XP installation disc doesn't have this directory, it may be a specially made installation CD, and the main installation program is located in other directories. You can try running dir g:\winnt.exe /s /a to see where WINNT is (assuming the CD-ROM drive letter is g:).
