I've been using the cracked version of this software all the time. It's good, but the quality is not good when playing VCD/DVD. It can't use hardware acceleration.
And the official registered version can use hardware acceleration. Therefore, the playback effect of the official version can be comparable to that of the player under Windows XP.
I only have version 2.52 here, which can solve the problem of poor playback quality. But it can't play videos like Divx (MPEG4).

You can try the newly released MPXPLAY 1.53 beta version. Now it supports Intel ICH and other AC97 sound cards (unfortunately it doesn't support SiS7012 for now), and it can play various multimedia formats such as WAV, MP3, AAC, OGG, WMA, ASF.

I tried MPXPLAY 1.53b, and there was no sound when playing MP3. The default settings were all in mpxplay, and the sound card was set to auto. The "ICH" word was indeed in the upper right corner of the mpxplay interface after startup.

You can check the volume and other settings, or try to modify the settings of MPXPLAY.

The volume is turned up to the maximum, and the mpxplay.ini is full of some shortcut key settings. It makes me dizzy. There are also many parameters that I don't understand at all. If auto doesn't work, forget it. Anyway, I can listen to music on my Windows 3.1 too.
