1. I used SciTech Display Doctor 6.53 for dos (SDD653 for short), and found that it cannot detect my S3 SAVAGE chip, so of course it cannot provide a high refresh rate;
2. The SciTech Display Doctor 7.0 beta 3 (SDD7 for short) I used has already expired, and now I cannot use software to make my graphics card support VBE3.0. (The SDD7 download link on Wengier's website is no longer valid).
3. I used SciTech SNAP Graphics 2.0 for dos (SNAP2.0 for short), and this software also cannot detect my display chip.
On the official SDD and SNAP websites at www.scitechsoft.com there are usage instructions for SDD and SNAP2.0, but they are all in English, so I can't fully understand them. Anyone interested can go take a look.
I found that after booting msdos7.1, the default resolution and refresh rate are 720x400@70hz. But as soon as I start ucdos or Tianhui, the display mode changes to 640x480@60. Anyone interested can check the display mode with the monitor's control buttons after booting msdos7.1.
I have still not managed to successfully get an 85hz refresh rate in DOS.
Wengier provided a solution to this problem: first use SDD to make a graphics card that does not support VBE3.0 support VBE3.0, then use unirfrsh.com to get an 85hz refresh rate (note: to run unirfrsh.com, the graphics card must support VBE3.0).
But after following the above plan, when I run ccdos and Disk Genius and the graphical interface appears, I can clearly feel that the graphics are flickering (anyone who often uses a high refresh rate can tell at a glance).
Question:
1. Would interested members please start ccdos or diskgenius or other software with a graphical interface under dos, and see what the refresh rate is at that time?
2. How can I make the screen stop flickering after starting ccdos or diskgenius, that is, achieve an 85Hz refresh rate under dos?
