Nowadays, the functions of the super boot disks made by everyone are becoming more and more powerful. They not only support long file names and NTFS, but also have Chinese input platforms and practical file management functions. The file functions of it are more perfect, but our boot disks still haven't realized network management or file management functions in terms of the network. If we can make another general network boot disk, it will be a better thing. The following is a network boot disk I downloaded from a foreign website. Since my network knowledge is limited, I hope everyone can refer to this boot disk to make our own general network boot disk. Let's cheer together, okay?

Download of general TCP/IP network boot disk:

I just studied it for a while, but the conclusion is not to make a MSCLIENT boot disk for LAN connection. Because first, the volume and memory usage of MSCLIENT are too large; second, MSCLIENT itself is very old, does not support long filenames, and the operation is very complicated; third, there are already many such disks on the Internet, and making them again is of no meaning and not beneficial to the development of DOS.

My idea is to make some general network boot disks for accessing the international Internet, which should support both modem connection and various network card connections; after connection, automatically start browsers like Lynx to enter the Internet, and even automatically connect to this forum (for example: lynx dosbbs.2ya.com).

Is that okay?

It's not bad, but I don't need it right now.

To be honest, I've basically been posting here using the Lynx browser under DOS these past few days (including right now). On this computer, except for Windows 3.2, the other versions (Windows 9x/2K/XP) can't be booted into.

No problem. But it's hard to be fully compatible, as there are so many network cards...

My network boot disk is based on TPX/SPX in the local area network. It cannot access the Internet.

Which network boot disk? Not this general TCP/IP network boot disk?

How to make this general-purpose network boot disk? I first formatted the floppy disk as a system disk and then copied the decompressed files to the floppy disk, but it always fails to boot.
