I am engaged in the work of CNC equipment, and there are two problems encountered in the work.

Our CNC programs can only run in pure DOS. The problems are as follows:

1: The customer requires that we install the WINDOWS 98 system and be able to create a shortcut on the WINDOWS desktop to directly run our software program. May I ask, can this be achieved? If yes, how to achieve it, and is there any requirement for the DOS version? Hope to get an answer, thank you very much!

2: If we only install the pure DOS system, what is the simplest way we can use to use the USB flash drive under DOS. Is there any requirement for the DOS version? If yes, how to achieve it. Thank you.

In Windows 98, in the shortcut of a DOS program, you can set custom config.sys and autexec.bat files. At this time, before the DOS program is executed, the system will first restart to enter DOS. After the program is executed, you can use exit to return to Windows (some systems restart to enter Windows).

But if your numerical control program does not strictly require a pure DOS environment, you can consider making some necessary configurations to its shortcut to make it applicable for use on the Windows platform.
