I converted the original FAT16 to FAT32 (PQMAGIC8), but why does it feel like some software runs more slowly?
The hard disk read speed is also obviously slower; deleting a 100MB file took 5 minutes!!
It used to be done instantly.

Then load a disk cache, such as SMARTDRV, PC-CACHE, etc. That way the speed will become obviously faster.

Then that's fine. FAT32 partitions have many advantages; the most obvious are support for large hard disks and saving space.

Under FAT16, the size of each cluster can reach 32K (64 sectors, when the partition is 2G), while under FAT32 the clusters are only 4K (8 sectors). Files are allocated by cluster, so when FAT16 is converted to FAT32 it will save some space, but the files will be more scattered, so it will also be a bit slower.

I've seen this problem too. I think it was just that the original 98 couldn't adapt after being changed from FAT16 to FAT32. Anyway, after I reinstalled the system once it was fine! I don't really know the exact reason either! Sorry.
