MS-DOS 6.22 and earlier versions do not support the LOGO screen. If you want to display the LOGO screen, just upgrade the system to MS-DOS 7.0/7.10 or a later version.

One more question: can software that originally ran under DOS 6.22
all run under 7.10 too? Are there any compatibility problems???? Thanks! |

Almost all software that can run under DOS 6.22 can run normally under DOS 7.10. For certain software, you can first use commands such as SETVER to set the version number.

Can 7.1 and 6.22 be installed on one drive?
Can it be made into a dual boot? |

MS-DOS 6.22 and MS-DOS 7.10 can coexist. The method is to change the extensions of the old version DOS files such as IO.SYS to .DOS, then transfer the MS-DOS 7.10 system files. At startup, press F4 during MS-DOS 7.10 startup to enter the old version DOS; otherwise it enters MS-DOS 7.10.

Do all the system files have to be changed to *.dos?
Including command? |

Yes, that includes COMMAND. If you don't want to back it up, that's fine too, because MS-DOS 7.10 has very good compatibility (I've personally been using it continuously for more than two years).

Oh! OK! I'll go give it a try!
Why is it that HIRAM。EXE and UMBPCI。SYS on your boot disk can't be used under dos6。22 for me! It says NO PCI, but when I use your boot disk it can load! Does that mean it can only be used under dos7。10?????? |

MS-DOS 7.10 is the DOS operating system with the best compatibility, so if there are any compatibility problems at all (including upward and downward compatibility), please upgrade the system to MS-DOS 7.10.

I went back and tried it! It did enter DOS 7.1, but pressing F4 wouldn't let me enter DOS 6.22!
Also, the tools from DOS 6.22 won't run under 7.1! Like defrag!!! Is there any replacement tool for it???? Thanks! |

It's not that those tools themselves can't run, but that before running they first check the version number (all versions of MS-DOS are like this; this is one major "feature" of Microsoft DOS). So if you use SETVER to set the version number first, there will be no problem, but it's best to use the tools that come with MS-DOS 7.10 itself.

Why does using undelete under DOS 7.1 always cause the system to crash?!
It always shows system halt or something! I don't know why! This never happened under my 6.2! And pressing F4 still won't let me enter DOS 6.22! Please advise, moderator!!! |

Because UNDELETE in MS-DOS 6.x is very old, it does not support FAT32 or long filenames and the like, and may damage the hard disk, so this is an automatic protection feature of MS-DOS 7.1 to prevent damage to the hard disk.
To recover files under MS-DOS 7.1, just use a newer file recovery tool that supports FAT32 and long filenames, such as UNERASE 95+, or that UNDEL from McAfee, and so on. All the file recovery tools on my website can run normally under MS-DOS 7.1. |
