Usage:
HH2 /S file to modify prompt file
Extract information with length >= n from 'file to modify' to 'prompt file' /A extract only English
For example: HH2 /S:3 edit.com edit.hh

HH2/S file to modify prompt file
Extract information with length == n from 'file to modify' to 'prompt file' /A extract only English
For example: HH2 /S=3 edit.com edit.hh

HH2/R file to modify prompt file
Replace the modified 'prompt file' into 'file to modify'
For example: HH2 /R edit.com edit.hh


'Prompt file' line format:

Type symbol at the beginning of the line (.=modify string ,=modify value others=not modify )

My Improvements: Modify hexadecimal values, string delimiters, colorinterfaceboundariesdisplay

My Improvement 1: Now hexadecimal values can be modified! This means it can replace the E command function of DEBUG, modify special positions, and achieve specific purposes.

My Improvement 2: The string delimiter has been changed from ▏ to a character with ASCII value 0Ch to avoid possible conflicts with tab characters.

My Improvement 3: Changed to ]、colorinterfaceboundariesdisplay, which is clear in meaning and more powerful in explaining the purpose.

Just minor improvements! What's there to talk about!

I wonder if Brother born2be has ever encountered a situation where editor2 cannot replace certain files. I tried the improved HH2, and it shows the same problem as editor2. For specific description, see the discussion thread:

I have tried 1.44MB files, and the HH2 Chinese localization writing back is normal. There is no problem of failed writing back, and there is no special effect on the attributes of the target file. Is it a problem with your system? Or is the source of your Editor2 suspicious—virus/prank? If not, please compress and package your localization tool, localization object, and localization text and send it over (lmayylxt@pub.sz.jsinfo.net) for me to study.

You can test the main file of the "Simple Romance of the Three Kingdoms" by bush in {16847}. Also, my test environment is WinXP Sp2 and MSDOS7.10, with file systems NTFS and FAT32.

Testing Process and Results for Large File (1MB) Test:

1. make12.exe (see attachment)
Generate file 1 (80 Chinese characters per line) and 2 (40 corresponding Chinese characters' hex codes), each 1071KB long.

2. hh2/s 1 2.hh hh2/s 2 1 1.hh2.hh2

Use file 1 to generate file 2.hh2

Modify requirements for generating file 2 with file 1
Modify requirements for generating file 1 with file 2
That is: hope to completely swap the contents of file 1 and 2.

3. hh2/r 1 1.hh2
hh2/r 2 2.hh2
Modify file 1 with file 1.hh2
Modify file 2 with file 2.hh2
Result: The contents of file 1 and 2 are successfully swapped!


4. All similar tests of editer2 failed! I don't know why yet.

Also:
Test environment: Win98se/WinXPsp2/MsDos7.1, FAT32.

Latest Improvements:
1) Add the switch for searching only Chinese characters information!
2) The default value of minimum search string length is changed to 3 (originally 6), and the maximum search string length is changed to 100 (originally 3000h).

There was originally a switch /A on the command line for searching only English information.
Now a new switch /H for searching only Chinese characters information is added.
However, the search results with /A switch + the results with /H switch < the search results with only /S switch!!!
∵ The starting search length for mixed English and Chinese information may be less than the default value or specified value.
∴ The accumulation of multiple differences makes each larger!

The suggestion from moderator willsort is very good (http://www.cn-dos.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=16847). The switch for searching only Chinese characters information is implemented first, and then the English description and the selection of limited search range will be done later.

Everyone is welcome to put forward more opinions and suggestions!

The new HH2 has been tested. No problems have been found in terms of functions, but there are some regrets regarding the help information. In the command line environment of WinXP, whether the code page is 437 (English) or 936 (Chinese), Chinese garbled characters are displayed because when executing 16-bit programs, the code page is automatically adjusted to 437. The solution is to run chcp 437 in the command line first, then run graftabl 936, and finally run hh2.

While in VPC's MSDOS7.10, I used three popular Chinese systems: tway streamlined version, UCDOS Lite, and CCDOS97. After running the Chinese platform, running hh2 will cause a crash, and the reason is to be investigated.

If using Chinese-English automatic recognition always displays Chinese characters, just like my another software "Format Accelerator 4.COM=QF.COM+KILLER.EXE+SHELL+Always display Chinese characters!"(http://www.cn-dos.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=17090&page=1&sid=R5nvvv#pid100738), is it okay? Please test the display effect by the way.

Moreover, does the moderator have a decrypted version of VPC? I want to use VPC, but I'm worried about its time limit. Thanks in advance!

Regarding the crash problem, I don't quite understand. First give an unencrypted hh2.com, please have a try!

The prompt file has a large difference from the original EDITER. Lines starting with / are for comparison;

This is very useful during manual translation, but sometimes it is also inconvenient.

Can you modify a version that does not use the comparison lines with "/" (the original software does not have this);

Or add a switch?

Regarding the head and tail marks of string/value information:
The head mark always uses ;
The tail mark only appears on the comparison line where the head is /, and does not appear at the tail of the string/value of the line to be modified (to facilitate translation and editing).
Regarding the limitation on string length:
If the string or hexadecimal value string is overlong, the excess part is discarded;
If it is insufficient, spaces are added after the string, and the hexadecimal value string is not supplemented because it is dangerous.

English character interface is as shown in the screenshot.

Also: Run

HH2 /S
HH2 /T
to get the English, simplified Chinese, and traditional Chinese help screens respectively.
