nf7-s
AMD XP1000+ overclocked to 2000+
ST380013AS SATA 80G
Kingmax DDR400 256M
GF4 MX440 8x

Need to manually load ntfsdos/U + XZL, but if there are Chinese long filenames or filenames with irregular characters in the NTFS partition, when doing "dir", it won't work, the screen keeps listing files, can't be used normally, have to restart.

Built-in grub, seems to be relatively old version, after modifying mune to load Linux FC4, can load, but will die when reading hardware.

Now I delete the Super Boot Disk startup screen and help files, copy grub for dos, enter DOS7.1 and run grub to enter Linux normally,
(These can be considered as nonsense)

Hope to change to a newer version of grub, can edit mune to boot multi-systems, and add the vim editing software under Linux to the Super Boot Disk (if there is a DOS version of vim), can read and write files on NTFS hard drives.
(Don't consider as nonsense)

There is of course a DOS version. Vim is too large. It's not easy to cut down and not easy to pack either.

Comes with grub, seems to be an older version. After modifying the menu, loading Linux FC4 can be loaded, but when reading hardware, it dies

The built-in grub version is relatively old to accommodate the capacity...

It is suggested that GRUB should not be used on the boot floppy. Use SYSLINUX, which is less than 10k, can complete functions similar to GRUB's chainloader, and can boot Linux.

First, salute : )
Is syslinux easy to configure? Is it also like grub where you just modify the menu?
Thank you for the answers from the moderators. Can it be updated to support reading and writing NTFS, NTFSdos (commercial version is fine)?
C: NTFS Windows XP (grub for dos) is also placed in it (if the hard disk MBR boot fails, then Super DOS 7.1, grub for dos) can be used to recover, heh heh
D: Linux FC4
E: (reserved for new system use)
3 primary partitions
The rest are extended partitions
Now I like the partitions in Linux, and I've used vim (although not fully understanding it)
DOS still can't be abandoned. It would be best if I can operate ext3 files under DOS and run vim (to avoid reinstalling the system)

I'm currently using Super DOS 7.1 ghost NTFS + (similar to backing up the MBR to boot Linux)

A bit naive and a bit crazy, a bit daydreaming, please forgive me.

As for the configuration of syslinux, it is the same as that of isolinux. The first CD boot of fc uses isolinux, you can take a look.

mount everything pro can read and write NTFS, ext2, ext3 partitions under DOS. Search for this software on soft.ttdown.com.

Thanks to the moderator and brothers, I will add mount everything pro and vim in Super DOS. I hope to connect DOS, Windows, Linux, etc. so that I don't need to reinstall the system due to viruses, operation errors, etc. Reinstalling is so tiring. {I like all open-source software. (Low education level, can't read source code, envy you all) Open-source is mostly cross-platform, so I don't need to learn too many software. I will still use GRUB, because it's relatively easy to master, as long as I handle menu.lst well.}

What a big software, commercial version, I like piracy... Need to figure out the USB boot of nf7 - s, only then can consider my own super USB boot disk, floppy disk is too slow and not safe, I should choose a reliable motherboard, 555 ~

An bootable CD is provided, which can directly enter DOS or Linux, and access NTFS (read - only)
What a big blow!

I'm sorry, I installed Linux FC4 with GRUB on the hard disk and didn't use isolinux.

Salute + gratitude to the mount everything pro you provided

Take a look at the boot screen of syslinux
http://syslinux.zytor.com/screenshots.php
Personally, I think its configuration is simpler than grub

Do you have a DOS version? Give a link. Did the software download site forget to evaluate the DOS environment?

That is the one above, mounteverything. After installing it under Windows, you can make a DOS bootable disk that contains DOS version programs.
