Recently, a book editor approached our DOS Union to write a DOS-related book. This can not only popularize and promote DOS knowledge but also promote the development of the DOS Union, and there are corresponding royalties. The book content can include various aspects of DOS, including basic DOS knowledge, DOS system settings, DOS usage tips, solving problems with DOS, etc. The key can be to focus on methods for solving problems under DOS, etc. Netizens who are interested in participating in writing the book are welcome to sign up. Please inform your personal information such as name, email address, other contact information via text message or reply, and also attach a brief introduction - your own strengths and which chapters of the DOS book you will participate in writing. But please do it as soon as possible because the editor hopes to have the manuscript submitted within this year. Thank you all for your support and participation!
Members participating in writing the book can first write it and post it on the DOS Wiki to let everyone see if there are any errors or places that need to be revised. The website is as follows: http://www.cn-dos.net/mediawiki/ The following is a passage from the editor: Hello everyone, I am the planner of this book Responsible for contacting the publishing house Now it is initially determined that this book will be published by Electronic Industry Press It will be distributed nationwide and can be seen in major computer bookstores. I can strive to put our website on the cover to play a role in promoting the website. I will always pay attention to the progress of this book and put forward some suggestions. The following is the I planned, which has a very good market response and is very high in the sales ranking on the website, currently ranking first http://www.cn-dos.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=16465&fpage=1 ====================Separator======================= Currently, the members participating in writing the DOS book are: Wengier Dark-Destroy fdsiuha Climbing autoit doscommand willsort MYS chenhui530 JonePeng cn_archer A total of 11 people [ Last edited by Dark-Destroy on 2005-8-11 at 15:49 ] |

First, I express my support and I'll sign up first! But my personal level is limited, I can only do some errands and odd jobs!
Xie Yongfeng email: xclimbing@msn.com, xclimbing@gmail.com QQ: 21959997, 653668 MSN: xclimbing@msn.com I suggest that the best way to write a DOS book is to carry out it under a unified organization. Everyone can write the part they are interested in or good at, but it's best to have someone to review it to avoid the spread of errors and mislead others! If possible, we can adopt the form of Wikipedia, and everyone can write and correct through the Wiki system. |

Thank you all for participating. We will use the Wiki method, which should make writing the book much easier.
Also, please have autoit help set up the Wiki system for writing the book at the following address. Since a MySQL database needs to be configured in it, only you can set it up. Set the "language" to "zh-Chinese", which should support automatic traditional and simplified Chinese conversion. The address of the setup page is as follows: http://www.cn-dos.net/mediawiki/config/index.php |

mediawiki is also an independent Wiki. It's not integrated with Discuz!... So the installation is okay, just need to register! Originally I planned to make a CMS to integrate members with various modules, but the space is a bit tight. Now I have to go home and rest for more than a month, and I'm leaving tomorrow. So it hasn't been done until now.
Then I'll go ahead and install... ![]() Problems during installation: Checking environment... PHP 4.3.10: ok Warning: PHP's register_globals option is enabled. MediaWiki will work correctly, but this setting increases your exposure to potential security vulnerabilities in PHP-based software running on your server. You should disable it if you are able. PHP server API is cgi; using ugly URLs (index.php?title=Page_Title) Have XML / Latin1-UTF-8 conversion support. PHP's memory_limit is 16M. If this is too low, installation may fail! Attempting to raise limit to 20M... ok. Have zlib support; enabling output compression. Turck MMCache not installed, can't use object caching functions Found ImageMagick: /usr/bin/convert; image thumbnailing will be enabled if you enable uploads. Found GD graphics library built-in. Installation directory: /www/users/cn-dos.net/mediawiki Script URI path: /mediawiki MySQL error 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on '61.152.91.41' (111) Something's not quite right yet; make sure everything below is filled out correctly. Then can't continue... This should be a problem with the Server. It seems there's some support issue between the Server and this Wiki! ![]() @Wengier: It turned out to be the fault of the DB Root PW... It's okay without filling it in. The volume of this Wiki you chose is really huge. There are nearly 30 tables built. |

The red words in the above prompt are just warning messages, and the following sentence is where the error lies:
MySQL error 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on '61.152.91.41' (111) That is: Can't connect to the MySQL server at 61.152.91.41. Maybe the address setting of the MySQL server is incorrect? |

I don't have enough level, so I won't participate.
But I express serious support! In addition, put forward some suggestions: Now although the China DOS Union has been established for a long time, the reputation and status of DOS in China are still very low. I think it is mainly because the publicity is not enough, and people all think that DOS is out of date and useless. A considerable number of people think that DOS is only used for system maintenance, and has no other uses. So I think it is necessary to introduce more about the vigorous development of foreign DOS technologies in recent years in the book, and introduce the latest DOS technologies more, so as to make people understand that DOS can also be as powerful as Windows! To make people abandon the view that "DOS is out of date". I think we must increase publicity. Therefore, the content in the book must also have more popularizing things, not too professional, so that people who don't understand DOS can also be interested in DOS. In short, it is to make more people interested in DOS. Also, encourage more people to develop DOS, just like Linux. Why is Linux so popular, but DOS has disappeared, and there are reasons for it. The above are purely personal opinions! [ Last edited by brglng on 2005-8-4 at 16:30 ] |

I am willing to participate. My level is not very professional either, but I am willing to contribute a small bit of strength to the writing of the new book.
Name: Peng Jianhong Email: jonesir_007@163.com, jonepeng@hotmail.com QQ: 373343541 After reading the table of contents written by moderator willsort, I think that appropriate additions should be made to the application articles under CMD in Win2000/XP. After all, most people cannot do without Windows, and the commands in CMD are more powerful and professional. The previous DOS textbooks rarely mentioned the commands in CMD. I think the new book should add content in this aspect. |

I wonder if it can be seen in bookstores after it's finished?

Re JonePeng:
The table of contents was not written by me. It was written by Brother Wengier when he previously thought about writing a DOS book. I just re-posted it. Regarding the content of CMD, I think some can be appropriately increased; however, in my memory, Brother Wengier strongly advocated distinguishing CMD from DOS, so it is necessary to discuss with Brother Wengier and other several moderators. Re DOS Bookers: Please all the people participating in the writing of the DOS book log in to DOS Wiki as soon as possible to facilitate communication. Re brglng: That depends on the intention and ability of the publisher. This needs to consult Brother AutoIt. |

"Once strongly advocated distinguishing CMD from DOS" Actually, I just hope everyone should clarify the differences between the two, let everyone understand that CMD under WIN is not the real DOS, and cannot treat DOS as an appendage of WIN. Therefore, if you want DOS, you must install DOS. However, it is not necessarily inappropriate for DOS books to introduce CMD in a certain length, as long as the differences and connections between pure DOS and CMD are clearly explained, and the two should not be contradictory.
