First, let me introduce myself, or maybe make a self-mockery.

First, my ID: willsort

Here, Will is the given name, which was taken by an English teacher in the early years and has been used until now.

Sort is the surname, which I took myself. I remember that I was working on a batch processing program for text stream processing, and I spent a lot of effort on the sort command. Finally, I succeeded, so I used sort as the surname to commemorate it.

Although the current Chinese-style surname before given name has also become a convention or standard in English, because Will Sort is not the pinyinization of a Chinese name, I don't use the Chinese-style spelling. Of course, the main reason is that it requires changing my ID that I have used for many years, as well as the author marks of many programs and documents, which is a huge project.

Of course, according to Western stream-of-consciousness theory, any event that has a significant impact on oneself or others does not have only a single factor, but is the result of multiple factors. Then, the origin of Will Sort is thought to have a deeper reason hidden in my subconscious, but I can't be aware of it.

In addition, a nickname is needed in the forum and chat room. Willsort is too long and not suitable, so I intercepted part of the given name and just called it wil. However, there is a small problem. If it is called too smoothly, it is no different from "hey" in Chinese. Forget it, hey is hey.

Finally, summarize:
FullName: Will Sort Net name (ID): willsort Nickname: wil

My Encounter with Computers

In fact, my history with electricity-related to computers is quite short-

Around 1997, I truly came into contact with the "fresh thing" called a "computer". But from then on, this "fresh thing" greatly influenced my hobbies, significantly affected my personality, and to a considerable extent, impacted my life.

At that time, I had regular temporary access to about forty computers, all with standard configurations:

14-inch CGA color monitor, 386 CPU (no clock speed indicated, I think it was less than 10 MHz), 1MB of memory, ROM chips equivalent to a hard disk, and MSDOS 6.20 as well as WPS 2 and CCED 5.

Although there were no network cards, sound cards, graphics cards, or CD-ROM drives, there was a 5-inch floppy drive, a parallel port dot-matrix printer, and games on four 5-inch floppy disks-《Illusion Thunderbolt》and a floppy disk of my own. So, this was truly great happiness for me; and therefore, I cherished it very much!
(To be continued)

Sorry, I interject, wil should first report the profession he is engaged in! A person who doesn't understand computers suddenly has 40 386 computers with standard configurations (it seems like they were eliminated from a university computer lab, because in 1997, 386 was already very old-fashioned), then the most likely situation is that he works in a primary or secondary school. I don't know if my guess is correct or not.

It's pretty much what I guessed.

A small question...
The clock speed of 386 should not be that low
I remember there are 25, 33, 40MHz
There are also 16MHz models for 286. According to Intel's habit, the clock speed of 386 will not be lower than that of 286

What the 2nd to 6th floors said makes sense! After 1997, 586 computers were already very common, especially in non-educational system units.

The LZ said "(To be continued)" right? Probably because no "investor" was found, and the funds were not available, so the sequel was shelved like this...... It might also be that the LZ deliberately left everyone a suspense, so everyone has to often come to this forum to see if there is any follow-up...... ; )

"To be continued"嘛, maybe we have to wait until willsort becomes the moderator again. I don't know when that will be.
