It's best to use the FAT32 partition. In this way, the dual systems can access each other's contents.

Please ask questions. The formatted area needs attention. Should the first partition of Dos be formatted with format c:/s?

The partition of DOS can be directly formatted with format, whether to add /s depends on whether you want to use it. Just format the C drive to FAT32. Use sys to transfer the boot file, and then install XP, and there will be a dual-boot menu. Don't install XP on the C drive again.

After downloading msdos71, I used winimage to extract the image (totaling 41 files). When installing with setup, there were many installation wizard screens. Since I didn't understand English well, the installation always failed. Also, when installing msdos, if setup.bat partitions or formats the hard disk, won't all the information on the hard disk be lost? How does the dual system come about? Please give advice! Also, when installing DOS to drive D, can I not uninstall XP on drive C?

①Download the bootable installation CD of DOS 7.10. After booting, it will automatically run and install 7.10.
②After installing 7.20, when installing Windows XP, you can install both on the C drive.
③After Windows XP is installed, restart the computer, and the boot menu will automatically appear for you to choose which system to enter!
④It is not necessarily required to install DOS 7.1 using a CD, but you must install 7.1 first and then install Windows XP.
⑤If it is a SATA interface hard drive, set the hard drive mode in the BIOS to "compatible mode" now.

"④It is not necessarily required to install DOS 7.1 using a CD, but it is necessary to install 7.1 first and then install Windows XP."
Not quite accurate. I remember it was installed like this before:
First, install Windows XP (FAT32) well, then extract all the installation files of DOS 7.10 to a folder under C:\, and then start to DOS by any method (it is best to use a boot CD with DOS boot options), enter the just-mentioned directory, type SETUP, and then it can be installed, and there will also be a dual-boot menu after installation.
