Earlier boot sector backup software such as SRCBOOT.COM and DISKGEN.EXE could only back up the first sector of the boot sector. But WIN9X booting needs the first and third sectors, and WINXP booting needs the first and thirteenth sectors. So when there is a problem with the boot sector, backups made with the above software may not be able to restore the system. For a dual-boot system, I once formatted drive C and reinstalled WIN9X; after restoring with the backup file, the system could not boot.
SRXBOOT.COM is a boot sector backup program written by me. It can back up the first, third, and thirteenth sectors of the boot sector, and is suitable for WIN9X and WINXP systems. The help file has been Chinese-localized.
Usage: SRXBOOT drive-letter parameter filename
drive letter for example C
parameter /S save the boot sector to a backup file
parameter /R restore the boot sector from a backup file
parameter /X repair a dual-boot sector from a reference file
filename path allowed
For dual-boot systems, if formatting drive C makes the system unable to boot, you can enter the WINXP console to repair it, or you can use this program's /X parameter together with the included SRX32.BS reference file to repair it.
The included SRX32.BS reference file is actually a WINXP boot sector backup file. The repair program automatically
replaces the BIOS parameters in the SRX32.BS reference file with the BIOS parameters from your system's boot sector, and then repairs your boot sector. Since the included SRBOOT.BS reference file was taken from a FAT32 partition type, it can only be used to repair FAT32 partition types. You can also use this program to save a backup file from a dual-boot system with a FAT16 partition type, and use it as a reference file for repairing FAT16 partition types.
When using the restore and repair functions, please execute the LOCK command first, and answer " Y ", so that disk management privileges can be granted.
Because I did not have a system with a FAT16 partition type, the previous version was not tested. I have now found that there was a defect when repairing dual-boot systems with a FAT16 partition type, and it has been corrected. Please forgive me, friends! Please try V1.0.

I made an English version, because I usually don't use Chinese-localized versions, and I mostly learned DOS and programming in ENGLISH as well. Especially since this is a system repair tool, both English and Chinese-localized versions should be provided to meet different needs.

This software can recognize NTFS partitions, right?

It cannot be used for NTFS.
