I have an IBM TP600 laptop. In order to play Chinese Paladin, I installed a pure DOS 7.1 system, because using a virtual machine under Windows is too slow. I downloaded the DOS version of the sound card driver from IBM's website. Based on my model, I downloaded the CS4232C driver. IBM's website says this driver supports the 600, but when I checked with Everest, it showed that my sound card is a CS4237. Since IBM says it is supported, I installed it under DOS. Both CONFIG and AUTOEXEC were also automatically given the relevant lines. When booting into DOS, it shows the following: plug N play BIOS Deteced,SBprI/O=220,IRQ=5,DMA=1. It should be loaded, right? But there is no sound when I enter the game. I also downloaded an MP3 player for DOS and played music files; I could see the time progress moving forward, but there was still no sound.
Could an expert please tell me how to install and set up the sound card on this computer under DOS? I couldn't find a DOS driver for the CS4237 online, and I also couldn't find a DOS driver for the CS423x. Does anyone have one, or is there some other driver that can drive my sound card? Urgent thanks!!!!!!!!!!
