The three files that are already in my MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk are SRCBOOT.COM, SRCFAT.COM, and SRCMBR.COM:

I read this passage: 【The startup of DOS requires the boot sector and startup file of the DOS system. If DOS (including MS-DOS 7.x built in Win9x) was once installed in the system, when WinNT/2K/XP is installed, it will automatically create the BOOTSECT.DOS file in the main boot partition (usually drive C), and this file retains the boot information of DOS. After selecting to start DOS in the startup menu, WinNT/2K/XP uses this file to enable DOS to start. Therefore, if the BOOTSECT.DOS file already exists in C:\ (that is, the main boot partition), there is no need to manually create this file. You can directly copy the IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, and COMMAND.COM files of DOS (such as MS-DOS 7.10) to C:\ (it is best not to use the SYS command to transfer the system, for details, please refer to the introduction in the next paragraph), and then modify the BOOT.INI file according to the following introduction.】 I don't quite understand. I used to have a dual system, and now it's a single system 【XP】. Is there still this BOOTSECT.DOS file? If I use SYS C: to transfer the system, is there a problem 【I'm very afraid of reinstalling XP】 Please give me advice, thank you. Can the moderator upload a BOOTSECT.DOS file

I just did dual-boot on other computers like this. Just uploading BOOTSECT.DOS is not enough. Each system is not necessarily the same.

Moderator, I downloaded another BOOTPART.EXE which is 40KB in size. Is this software different from the 3 software in your startup disk? The tutorial says "You can easily achieve it with a small tool called SRC Tools in the "Disk Tools" of this site. Among them, SRCBOOT, SRCMBR and SRCFAT are commands for saving, backing up and comparing operations on BOOT, MBR and FAT respectively. The specific usage method of the SRCTools toolset can be seen in the special article in the "DOS Articles" column. For example, SRCBOOT C: C:\BOOTSECT.DOS /S can save the boot sector of drive C to the file C:\BOOTSECT.DOS. At this time, the BOOTSECT.DOS file has been successfully established. Next, it is to restore the boot information of WinNT/2K/XP, which can be completed with the above BOOTPART tool, such as BOOTPART WINNT BOOT:C:. Then you can proceed to modify the BOOT.INI file. "Completing with the BOOTPART tool means the one I downloaded, not the 3 files in your startup disk. Please give me another hint, I didn't understand. Thanks.

That tutorial was written by me. The BOOTPART there is not referring to SRC Tools, but another tool, which is also in my MS-DOS 7.10 boot disk. After booting the system with it, you can execute BOOTPART 2.5 using the BOOTPART command. And SRCFAT, SRCMBR, and SRCBOOT are the ones in SRC Tools.

I'm not smart, and I'll ask one more question. I'm currently using a single-system XP. , and does BOOTPART need to be used in conjunction with the other 3 tools? There are so many tools that I'm now at a loss. Please forgive me.

Reported to the moderator, finally got it done. One more question, when in pure DOS, if you want to return to Windows like before by typing WIN doesn't work, you have to restart. Is there a way to enter Windows without restarting?

You can directly use the WIN command to start Windows under pure DOS, as long as the path is set correctly. Anyway, that's what I do.

Of course, if you want to start a certain version of Windows, you should use the corresponding version of WIN.COM.

I found the WIN.COM file in XP. I copied it to C:\. Can I go back to XP from DOS by typing WIN?

Moderator, I tried typing WIN in pure DOS and got THIS PROGRAM CANNOT BE RUN IN DOS MODE. Is it because XP doesn't support it?
