Although the graphical interface is more convenient than the command line in the vast majority of cases, in some situations it is not necessarily so (such as renaming a batch of regularly named files at the same time). This requires us to enter DOS mode to perform certain operations. Is there any way to enter MS-DOS mode and directly switch to the corresponding folder (using the "MS-DOS Mode" command in the "Start" menu will enter the Windows 98 installation directory)? For this we can use the following steps:

  1) Start the Windows 98 Registry Editor

  2) In the Registry Editor, expand the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, Directory, and shell branches in sequence.

  3) Under the shell branch, create a new primary key named MSDOS.

  4) Modify the "Default" value under the MSDOS primary key to "MS-DOS Mode".

  5) Under the MSDOS primary key, create another primary key named command.

  6) Modify the "Default" value under the command primary key to "c:\windows\command.com".

  7) Execute the "Exit" command on the "Registry" menu to close the Registry Editor.

After this, we only need to right-click the relevant folder, and then we can find an "MS-DOS Mode" command in the shortcut menu that pops up. Execute this command to quickly enter MS-DOS mode and automatically switch to that folder, thus making it more convenient for users to manage the files in that folder.

I tried it, and it really is very convenient. You can export this shell branch as a REG file, so you won't have to slowly modify it again later.
