Thank you very much for the effort and support for Climbing! However, the several download links under "The series of MS-DOS 7.10 + GRUB FOR DOS boot floppy disks I made for download" mentioned above seem to be invalid, showing "Page not found". Please correct them.

My computer doesn't have a floppy drive, so I can only use ramdisk + virtual pc to make a grub floppy disk image. But I don't know why the 2.88M image always fails to install grub. The 1.44 one is okay. I wonder if it's because there's no real floppy drive.

Re Wengier: Sorry, the download link has been corrected. Re dat should be due to GRUB not recognizing the 2.88M floppy format. First, make a 1.44MB Grub boot floppy, and then convert the 1.44MB floppy to the 2.88MB format.

Known issues with Grub bootable CDs: There are indeed issues when booting antivirus floppy disks from Kingsoft Antivirus and VRV using Grub, because one line of the boot command has incorrect parameters. There are two solutions: 1. Still boot via Grub, but you need to modify the command line parameters. The specific method is as follows:
(1) In the boot menu interface, select the menu item "Duba 6 and VRV (kav&vrv.img) for DOS". (2) Press e to enter the command line editing state. (3) Select the second line "kernel /boot/grub/memdisk.gz", then press e to edit, and add at the end of the command line: c=80 h=4 s=36 floppy, that is, edit this line to be like the following: kernel /boot/grub/memdisk.gz c=80 h=4 s=36 floppy, then press Enter to confirm the modification. (4) Press b to start the kav&vrv.img floppy disk image with the modified command line. The cause of this problem: Because when I originally made the Duba 6 and VRV boot disks, I used a 2.88MB floppy disk image, so memdisk did not add parameters, but after Duba 6 was upgraded, the space of the 2.88M floppy disk image was not enough, I expanded it to a 5M floppy disk image (you can see that the floppy disk images of Rising and KV2004 are all 5M), but I forgot to specify the parameters for the floppy disk image for memdisk, so it cannot start normally, but the advantage of Grub is that you can dynamically modify the boot parameters (this is a function that other boot disks do not have, and it is also one of the advantages of Grub). This problem can be solved by modifying the corresponding boot items in \boot\grub\menu.lst and menu.chs when re-booting the CD ISO and adding the parameters. 2. Use Boot CD Winzard to start this floppy disk image: Select "Boot CD Winzard Menu" in the Grub boot menu, then select the boot menu item of Duba 6 and VRV to directly start this floppy disk image. |

LZ, I really liked your post, but I can't succeed following what you said above.
I used mkisofs 1.15a40 to do it but it didn't work. Also, I downloaded the grub_all.img made by the楼主, and wanted to use it to make a bootable CD, but couldn't make it work. For the ISO bootable CD, I used WINISO (no prompt, but can't boot in the virtual machine) and UltraISO (prompted an error). How should I proceed? |

I'm still used to using traditional methods, and I haven't used this thing yet. But I still suggest renaming the boot.ini file (it might conflict with NT's boot.ini because I haven't used it, maybe it's not like that)

You'll know once you use it. No practice, no say.
