The process of making a DOS 7.10 boot floppy disk img for 11520k!
1. Download the ready-made 11520k floppy disk img from abroad, and it is very small after compression.
2. Open it with WinImage 6.41 and delete all the files inside.
3. Options, WinImage mode selection, select WinImage professional mode, press OK;
4. Image, Boot sector properties, select Win95/98, press OK;
5. Open the standard 7.10 DOS boot disk, and add the files io.sys, command.com, msdos.sys, autoexec.bat, config.sys, himem.sys to this IMG file. Because the mouse is to be used, the file mouse.com should also be added;
Note: Some people proposed that io.sys and msdos.sys are the core files for DOS boot, but their positions on the boot disk are fixed. First, add io.sys and msdos.sys in sequence (remember not to reverse the order), and then add other files. I don't know if it is correct.
6. Then add other things you want to add. I added about 10MB of DOS tools. Save it.
7. Use the run command in EasyBoot to call this img file to make an ISO, and it was successfully tested in the VM virtual machine.
Problems:
1. I am using EasyBoot 5.02 version. Sometimes the ISO made by the above method cannot boot, and it succeeded after trying again.
2. That is the above "Note". Is it really like that? I want to ask the experts here: "io.sys and msdos.sys are the core files for DOS boot, but their positions on the boot disk are fixed. First, add io.sys and msdos.sys in sequence (remember not to reverse the order)". Then how to ensure that their positions on the boot disk are fixed, can it be靠 the sequence of copying?
3. Problem with WinImage: The latest version on the WinImage homepage is 6.10, but now it is 6.41 on the Internet. It is said that WinImage 6.10 is still the latest official version, and the 6.30.613x series is actually a modified version by some Chinese, and most of them are currently beta versions, so be a little careful when using it. Currently, I find that the "Save As" function of version 6.41 does not work.
Sharing:
1. The ready-made 11520k floppy disk img downloaded from abroad, 98.6k.
2. Registration code for WinImage 6.41 professional version (it seems to be universal for several versions):
Name: songtaowei
Code: 754AD3D

Hello! I thought you made a typo at that time. The IMA file of 11520k can actually be compressed to 98K! But after opening it with WinImage, I found that this IMA only has a few files (the total size is only 140K). It turns out that the so-called 11520K is just the total space set by this IMA. Oh my god... I thought there was such a powerful compression technology. I really don't understand why that foreigner made an IMA of 11M but only put a few files in it, a big overkill!

"Note: Someone proposed that io.sys and msdos.sys are core files for DOS startup, but their positions on the boot disk are fixed. First, add io.sys and msdos.sys in sequence (remember not to reverse the order), then add other files. I don't know if it's correct." That refers to the old version of DOS. For MS-DOS version 7.10, it is incorrect because the positions of these core files can already be arbitrary. So there is no such problem at all.

This should be the floppy disk image on barts's homepage. They are all empty frames, used to add files as needed.

It's a floppy disk image on barts' homepage. It's bootable by itself. The system is FREE DOS. We can change it to 95/98 by adding necessary files.
