Dear experts in DOS:
Hello! May I ask, what is an operating system based on OS/2 and NT components? I've heard that Windows NT, 2000 are like this. Then what exactly do the terms OS/2 and NT components represent? Hope you experts can give instructions, preferably in detail, thank you! |

It means that they are operating systems built on the OS/2 and NT kernels. WinNT evolved from OS/2, and Win2K is WinNT 5.0, similarly WinXP is WinNT 5.5.

Can we say that the DOS system is the kernel of Windows 9X? If so, then what are the differences between the DOS system and other operating systems, and what are its advantages?
Also, since the DOS system has its benefits, why doesn't Microsoft have hope for it? Instead, it turns to developing OS/2 and NT frameworks! |

It's the other way around. The Win9x system has a DOS kernel, that is, DOS is started first, and then the Win9x interface runs.

WinXP is NT 5.1.2600. DOS is written in ASM.
