I first installed "Virtual Boot Floppy vfloppy", then did ghsot, and then used ghost to restore the system, and found that "Virtual Boot Floppy vfloppy" can no longer be used. Please ask for a solution! Or are there any software similar to "Virtual Boot Floppy vfloppy". About Virtual Boot Floppy vfloppy

Why do I always have a feeling that the people asking questions in the forum nowadays don't seem to speak Chinese very well. The first step in asking a question should be to clearly express the problem you encounter, so that others know what you want to do.

Title: VFloppy cannot be used after using Ghost to restore the system
Content: I am using XP (hypothetical), I installed VFloppy in the C:\Boot directory (hypothetical), and used it to boot a Win98 boot disk (hypothetical is w98dos.img, 1.44M) into pure DOS environment (hypothetical). I put Ghost 8.0 Enterprise Edition (hypothetical) on this boot disk. After booting into pure DOS environment with VFloppy, I used the ghost on the disk to make a clone of the XP system partition (can further explain how to make it). Later, my XP system had a problem, I used VFloppy to enter pure DOS environment again, used ghost to restore the clone of XP system, after restoration, the XP system was normal, but VFloppy could not start into pure DOS environment again, what's the matter? Besides VFloppy, what software supports booting into pure DOS environment from floppy disk images?
Answer: Since VFloppy uses the storage sectors on the hard disk to locate the floppy disk image, after you use Ghost to restore the system, the floppy disk image is very likely to be changed in its storage location on the hard disk. In this way, when VFloppy uses the original storage location to find the image file, it cannot find the floppy disk image, so VFloppy cannot start it again (this is described in detail in the instructions written by the VFloppy author). The solution is very simple. Enter the XP system and use vfloppy.exe to reinstall the floppy disk image (that is, reposition the storage location of the floppy disk image). In addition to VFoppy, you can also use Grub for NTLDR to boot from floppy disk images, but Grub requires that the floppy disk images must be stored continuously on the hard disk. If I guess correctly, after using Ghost to restore the system, all files should be stored continuously on the hard disk (just like using a disk defragmenter), so using Grub for NTLDR instead of VFloppy should be a good choice. For the usage of Grub for NTLDR, please refer to the content of related posts in this forum.

grldr + memdisk, which does not require a fixed image file location and does not need to be continuously stored.

The following is a quote from fujianabc's post on 2004-8-13 22:17:53:
grldr + memdisk, which neither requires a fixed image file location nor continuous storage.

Indeed, that's the case. But I'm not sure if there's a size limit for floppy disk images with memdisk? I don't know the maximum support yet.

memdisk can also simulate a hard disk, and the capacity limit is determined by memory.
