Today I suddenly really wanted to play an old game called "Aviation Tycoon II", but unfortunately my XP system just couldn't support it. I tried the VPC virtual machine, Wengier's Super DOS Boot Disk, a Windows98 boot disk, a DOS boot disk I made myself... but no matter how I changed Config.sys, it always said "not enough EMM memory."
Later I created a shortcut for the main program that runs the game, then set it to Win9x compatibility mode, and it actually got into the game successfully. But unfortunately there was no sound, and even worse, the mouse pointer wouldn't display... After searching like crazy online all morning, I finally found the solution. I'm pasting the related webpage address below; friends who like to play DOS games for nostalgia can use it for reference. http://61.136.152.55/sanguogame/hint/xp.html |

I want to play Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV in win98. I added "DEVICE=C:\windows\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\windows\EMM386.EXE dos=high, umb files=30" to config.sys, but after startup, when setting EMS, it always tells me "the statement DEVICE=C:\windows\EMM386.EXE in config.sys contains the noems command ", and asks me to delete that command. Why is this happening? What should I do? Thank you! |

So is there actually a NOEMS command or not?

The following is quoted from wchong's post at 2004-8-12 14:59:30: There is NOEMS. Some games can't run in EMS mode, so just remove the NOEMS line. Also, for that memory problem, you can use XMSDSK to solve it. For example, with 256MB of memory, games like Legend of Sword and Fairy may show the memory as a negative number. Actually, you just need to make your memory less than 32MB. The specific method: XMSDSK 250000 /Y #use XMSDSK to create a virtual RAM disk, set the capacity to 250000KB. Make the memory less than 32MB. PLAY.BAT #run the game directly. OK! |

VDMSOUND is much more powerful than DOSBOX because it can solve sound problems in DOS games! And some games have no sound in DOSBOX, or the sound is distorted!
