I just started learning DOS, and I'm away from home by myself, so I want to ask a few questions. I hope everyone can help me.
1. Running a DOS command under windows me:
C:\>FORMAT D: /S
The system says: this command is no longer supported by WINDOWS ME.
Is that really so? Why? Then how can I copy the system's IO.SYS and MSDOS.SYS files onto the formatted disk?
2. Why can't TREE and UNDELETE be run under WINDOWS ME?
3. How do I use the ATTRUE command? I don't know how to use it. Could you give me an example to help me?
There are a lot of questions, sorry for the trouble. Please help me more. I'm in Wuhan by myself, and I want to learn computers, but I don't have anyone to help me, so I can only ask for help online. Many thanks! Many thanks!

About what you asked, "Then how can I copy the system's IO.SYS and MSDOS.SYS files onto the formatted disk?"
There are two simple ways:
1) Under pure dos a:>\ format d: /s
2) Under pure dos a:>\ sys a:\ d:

These are all just my personal opinions.

I've never used winme
Microsoft pulled some tricks so that you can't transfer the dos system
It wanted winme to look more like an independent system
That's how it is, hehe

I think the tree and undelete commands were gone after dos7

What command is ATTRUE
Do you mean attrib????

Many thanks to all you brothers for the guidance, I benefited a lot!
What I said as ATTRUE was a typo; actually it was ATTRIE. Could you give an example for me to look at? I feel like WINME doesn't seem to have pure DOS, right? I also don't know whether it can be installed under WINME; I've never installed it before. I tried once last time, but it didn't succeed.
If anyone has experience in this area, please let me know.

??? Is it attrib ???
Displays or changes file attributes.

ATTRIB filename] ]

+ Sets an attribute.
- Clears an attribute.
R Read-only file attribute.
A Archive file attribute.
S System file attribute.
H Hidden file attribute.
/S Processes matching files in the current folder and its subfolders.
/D Also processes folders.

winme is a kind of dos+windows
It is built on dos (msdos8.0)
There is a tool to bring up its dos
http://home.planet.nl/~keesnoor/files/mfddme13.zip (I haven't used it)
It can let you boot into ms-dos8.0

It's all because of tricks Microsoft pulled, otherwise it wouldn't be this troublesome at all.

Learn how to ask questions first.
Change your post title to something better.
In the future, posts with titles like this will probably have only these three possible outcomes:
1。 No one pays any attention. (That’s the best-case scenario.)
2。 Moved to the off-topic section.
3。 Deleted.

It’s best to keep one question to one thread.
