Why can't the new DOS7.01 use common network commands, for example: ping net nbtstat

These are external commands, just look for them in win98. I don't know whether the dos 71 add-on has them.

ping, nbtstat, etc. in win98 are not DOS commands, but Win32 Console commands, and cannot be used under pure DOS.
