Played a lot of current games, and the younger brother suddenly started to be nostalgic. I really want to play old games like Xuan Yuan Sword, Angel Empire (everyone still remembers them?). Downloaded them but it seems there is no sound. I don't know if the game is silent by nature or a setting issue? Does anyone know the method to get the sound working? The younger brother thanks in advance here!!

To have sound under DOS, of course, you need to first install the sound card driver under DOS. As for how to install it, I haven't practiced it, so I naturally have no right to speak, but I suggest you study the relevant articles on the China DOS Union homepage.

It's not as good as playing Chinese Paladin in DOS state! This is much more fun than Angel Empire.

It has been solved. Just use the batch files for running games with the two software VDMSound or DOSBox. And DOSBox is quite perfect, just the speed is a bit slow. The method mentioned in the stickied post is good, but it's too cumbersome. It's recommended to use these two software which are simple, fast and easy to understand!

Is DOSBox a simulation environment for DOS?

You need sound, unless you get some PCI sound cards with good compatibility. For example, Creative 64 and so on. Now many sound cards mainly don't support FM. There's no way.

To have sound in DOS games, it's best to use an ISA sound card. But this antique has to be obtained from the second - hand market.

I want to play Sangokushi IV in Win98. I added "DEVICE=C:\windows\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\windows\EMM386.EXE
dos=high,umb
files=30" in config.sys, but when I set up EMS after booting, it always prompts me "The DEVICE=C:\windows\EMM386.EXE statement in config.sys contains the noems command", asking me to delete this command. What's the reason for this? What should I do? Thanks!

Emulating with DOSBOX is really too slow. I think my computer configuration is already pretty good. I really don't understand why this is the case.....
