Dear DOS experts:
Hello! I just got into DOS. I used to use Windows 9X system all the time. Now I also want to use DOS, but I don't know how! I want to ask you all to help. Can you introduce to me in detail in sequence how to make a DOS system boot floppy (Note: unrelated to Windows 9X)? I mean, insert this made floppy into the floppy drive, turn on the computer, and the one that boots is not Windows 9X but the DOS system in this made floppy. How should I do it? Hope all you experts can give me some guidance, thank you! |

Enter the DOS state, format a:/s. The DOS boot disk made this way itself is a simple DOS system. It has nothing to do with Windows 9x. All three core files it boots from are all on the floppy disk.

Note: A DOS boot disk cannot normally boot Windows 9x, that is, it has nothing to do with Windows 9x, so this is not a problem.

By default, the BIOS first attempts to boot from the floppy disk. If there is no floppy disk in the floppy drive, it then boots from the hard disk. Therefore, you can put a bootable floppy disk in the floppy drive.

When we first started learning computers, we also knew nothing.
There are differences between Award BIOS and AMI BIOS. Award BIOS is relatively simple. Enter BIOS FEATURES SETUP, find the BOOT Sequence. Press the PageDown key to change it to A, C, SCSI. Press F10, save and exit, then you can boot from the floppy disk. AMI BIOS is similar, but just change Boot Sequence to Floppy. |

There is also the Phoenix BIOS. This one changes the boot order in the boot option. Use the + and - keys to change.
