I found that whether it's 7.01 or the latest 7.50 beta, 4DOS has a serious BUG: if all TSR programs (including COMMAND.COM, which is the default setting in MS-DOS 7.x) are loaded into UMB, running 4DOS will automatically use the /P parameter, making it impossible to exit 4DOS with the EXIT command. The only solution is to load one TSR program into conventional memory before running 4DOS. What a hassle!
