If I type format a: /q, after it loads for a while it asks me y/n. How should I write it so it can automatically choose y or n for it?
Thanks, moderators. |

You can add the /U parameter, then when formatting a floppy it won't ask you.
If you're formatting a hard disk, it will still ask once more. But when formatting a hard disk, using “echo Y | format c: /u /q /s” seems like it can't succeed. |

The parameter /autotest can make it so no prompt appears when formatting a disk. You can't find this parameter in format's help text. Just a reminder to use it less, use it carefully, and use it for the right purpose!

Of course it will.
What playboy2925 means is that Microsoft naturally has its reasons for hiding this parameter. He's reminding you not to use it on someone else's computer when they don't know about it. |
