I have a dual-boot system and want to delete the XP on drive D, so I took a Win98 CD and entered MS-DOS. I've never gone into DOS before, and I wanted to format drive D (FAT32) myself. I first typed Format D:/q and pressed Enter. What should I do next? What command do I enter to restart the computer? A super-newbie question, hope an expert can advise me~~~~~~~~~~~

SHUTDOWN R restarts the computer; SHUTDOWN S shuts it down.

If it's a simple question, just ask me. If I can't solve it, then go ask the admin.

It seems that after formatting drive D, you should also add “SYS C:” to remove the dual-boot menu.

Does the poster above mean that after Format: D/q and pressing Enter, then use SYS C
seems like two spaces) to remove the dual-boot menu, and finally SHUTDOWN R |

That is, rewrite the boot sector of drive C to remove the boot menu.

If it's a Win98 CD, then use the command format c:/q/s, then press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the machine. Or if you have the software shutdown.com, use the parameter shutdown -r to restart.

Learn how to ask a question first.
Change your post title to something better. In the future, posts with titles like this may end up with only these three outcomes: 1。Nobody pays attention. (This is the best-case scenario) 2。Moved to the off-topic section. 3。Deleted. |
