I'm using a WINXP system. I have a 128M non - bootable flash drive and want to make it a bootable one. But I found several problems during the production process. 1. After formatting it to FAT32 format in the WINXP system and then formatting and copying system files in WIN98SE to make a bootable disk, I found that the file system format becomes FAT16. The same situation occurs when using a special tool to make a bootable disk. 2. The made USB flash drive boot disk can't boot the system (the motherboard supports USB - HDD and other forms). But when booting to DOS from a CD, the USB flash drive can be found. I sincerely ask experts to give some advice on these two problems!

1、Currently, U disks (below 128M) don't need to be formatted as FAT32. The manufacturers also strongly suggest formatting them as FAT16 disks under Windows 98, and their provided formatting tools automatically format them as FAT16 disks, which has become a de facto standard...

2、To increase product competitiveness, U disk boot disks are generally made into multi-boot types. Therefore, it is conjectured that the storage area partitions inside are different. Generally, the manufacturer's own formatting program works for making boot type disks!

3、The boot of a U disk requires the cooperation and support of both the motherboard and the U disk. You can generally try more options related to U disk boot in the computer's boot menu and find an available one. At the same time, the situation of both working seems not guaranteed...
