Software such as 4DOS7.01, Volkov Commander4.99, and Norton Commander5.0 can all display long filenames in a DOS window under Win98. Why is it that under pure DOS they can only display filenames in 8.3 format?

After loading Doslfn, long filenames can be displayed in DOS real mode.
Also, if I remember correctly, Norton Commander didn't support long filenames until 5.5. I wonder what version your latest Norton Commander is? |
